Reviewing the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch Series 10

Our reviews of the iPhone 16 Pro and Apple Watch Series 10 are ready thanks to a very tired Cherlyn Low. In this episode, Devendra and Cherlyn discuss their final thoughts on Apple’s new hardware, including why the iPhone 16 Pro’s photo processing is particularly interesting. In other news, we also talk about Snap’s fifth-generation AR Spectacles as well as HTC Vive’s new Focus Vision headset.

Devindra: [00:00:00] What’s up, Internet? And welcome back to the Engadget Podcast. I’m senior editor Devendra Hardawar.

Cherlyn: I’m deputy editor Cherlyn Low.

Devindra: This week we’ll be talking about Cherlyn’s review of the iPhone 16 Pro. And also, a review of the Apple Watch Series 10. And you’re very busy, Cherlyn. I’m so sorry.

Cherlyn: Yeah.

Devindra: Cherlyn is dying slowly. We’re also joined by podcast producer Ben Ellman. Hey, Ben.

Ben: Good morning, everyone. Usually we try to sell Cherlyn on video games. I guess now you’ll have to sell me on the iPhone 16.

Devindra: You know what? We will, we will. As always, guys, if you’re enjoying the show, please be sure to subscribe to us on iTunes or your podcatcher of choice.

Leave us a review on iTunes. Send us an email at [email protected]. Also, if you can join us on Thursday mornings on our YouTube channel, usually around 10:45 AM Eastern for our live stream. You can see our, our faces. You can see us do some Q&A, and you know, we’ll show off some devices as well.

So check it out. Cherlynn, I was really excited to know what you think of the iPhone 16 Pro [00:01:00]because based on our last conversation.

Cherlynn: Are you looking to upgrade?

Devindra: No, I’m not. I really am not, I very strongly am. I’m like, I really don’t need to do that at all. It’s great. It’s a great year for everyone who has the 15 Pro for no other reason than the button.

But I also know you had conflicting feelings about the camera button. And also, hey, we can’t really judge. We can’t fully judge this device because so much of it is going to be dependent on Apple intelligence, which won’t be rolling out until next month. The new Siri won’t fully arrive until early next year.

So what do you think of it so far? It’s just the Pro and the Pro Max.

Cherlyn: Yeah. I mean, we, I, I’m personally also testing the iPhone Plus and spending time with that. I can talk about them. Our, our, our review might come later. Okay. It’s coming. Nobody can blame you.

Devindra: You just sent out the Apple Watch review and the iPhone review.

And last week you did the Pixel Watch review. So yeah. Just to let everybody know.

Cherlyn: Guess the rhythm here. So the Apple event was on Monday. I went in for the meeting on Tuesday where I walked away with the devices, which [00:02:00]for disclosure, they’re all owners. We returned them at the end of the review period. Okay. And then there was, then on Monday morning, at 8 a.m. Eastern time, there were the AirPods up for review.

There was the publish embargo and then Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. Eastern time there was the Apple Watch Series 10 review embargo. And then Wednesday, yesterday morning at 8 a.m. Eastern, the Apple iPhone 16, the review embargo was lifted on all of them. So it’s been a lot of fun because it’s involved a lot of work over the weekend for some of us.

And, so forgive me if in this episode, I mix up some names and words and numbers because that’s bound to happen. It happened a couple of times in our video reviews, which, sorry, but my brain is, there it is. Anyway, I love the iPhone 16, the base iPhone 16, because we got the cutest colors. We got the pink and teal color, the teal iPhone 16 Plus and the pink color.
